Okay. So Obama says his opposition is talking to him like a dog. Like he is less than them. Like they don’t respect him. This is very obviously true. It’s been true since he announced his intentions to run for President. Now… when he called himself a “mutt” he was referring to his mixed race heritage. That’s all. I’m sure that most people reading these two links have realized that the connection is not there at all, but that doesn’t mean it’s not stupid and immature. I’m just pointing this out because people do take Matt’s website seriously. Millions of people do. Daily. Both conservative and liberal pundits have admitted to reading through it for their daily news items. This website affects the news media in a big way. It influences the nation. This may seem like an exaggeration, but it’s not.

I want my blog to be a stream. Yes… some items can be long and more serious… but I want there to be a place for all of the little “Holy crap! Today I watched a movie and played with my rats and watched Mad Men with Heather!” posts.

Well… the new theme should fix that. It’s radical. It’s free flowing. It’s wooden. Yeah… kinda going for a Grand Californian / Arts and Crafts / Craftsman theme with it. Can’t wait to finally get it up. Should be soon. Hopefully.

The text just linked to a Yahoo Image page of the picture of Obama on his bike. No story. Is Drudge trying to make fun of Obama for being safe while riding his fucking bike? Is that too girly for an American president? Would he rather have a semi-dictator in charge because he is totally badass and manly and shoots shit and takes his shirt off a lot? Okay. Must. Calm. Down. This is just one more reason why I cannot stand Republicans. Sexism. If you don’t think the Republican party is anti-woman, you’re not using your brain.

This is why all of these conservative bloggers and Fox News pundits pine for “the good old days” and think we need to “restore honor”. We haven’t lost our god damn honor. If we have, it was George Bush who did it. Under his watch, America tortured people and wire tapped its citizens without a warrant. Our own government lied to us to start a war that we did not need to start. Bush refused to actually act like a mature adult and talk to our enemies and show the world that we are not ignorant little children who say stupid things like “You’re either with us or against us in the fight against terror”. Yeah… that’s a real productive and gown up mentality. These guys probably watch Mad Men and wish America was still like that. I watch that show and am disgusted by that behavior (as any rational person would be), even if it is a great show.

Oh well… things always get better as the old generations die out and take their backwards thinking with them. Just gotta wait it out.

You can find beauty everywhere. Here I am in shitty Chandler, Arizona yet I feel completely relaxed and happy. I see green all around me and the only noises I hear are the steadily increasing breeze and a few skaters having some fun at the nearby skate park. I’m currently writing a post about atheistic spirituality that will cover most of what I am feeling right now so I won’t go into much detail, but I don’t see how any experience anyone can have in a church could even come close to rivaling the beauty of even this shitty little park and all it represents. I may not believe in a lot of the ridiculous stuff that those Sedona and Flagstaff new agey types are into, but they are definitely spot on about the benefits of connecting to nature. I love my gadgets, but this far surpasses any shiny new toy Apple can ever throw at me.

The 301-foot-tall WindSeeker promises to change Knott’s Berry Farm’s skyline when the spinning swing ride debuts at the Buena Park theme park in 2011.

WindSeeker will carry 64 riders in twin-seat gondolas to the top of the tower, where the ride’s metal arms will extend out at a 45-degree angle and spin for one minute at 30 mph.

The $5 million WindSeeker thrill ride replaces the venerable but aging Sky Cabin, a 225-foot-tall gyro observation tower built in 1976 and painted in patriotic red, white and blue. In recent years, the sedate observation deck has become better known for getting stuck in mid-ascent than for its commanding views. Knott’s removed the nostalgic Sky Jump parachute drop from the tower in 1999, leaving only the Sky Cabin.

The WindSeeker tower will retain the Sky Cabin’s signature Knott’s “K” at the top of the ride.

WindSeeker will be just a bit shorter Knott’s 312-foot-tall Supreme Scream turbo drop ride, touted as the tallest freestanding structure in Orange County when it was built in 1998.

Cedar Fair, Knott’s parent company, will install identical WindSeekers in 2011 at Cedar Point and Kings Island in Ohio and Canada’s Wonderland in Ontario.

The ride’s Dutch manufacturer, Mondial, is embroiled in a bitter patent dispute with an Australian competitor over the ride’s design. FunTime’s Star Flyer looks like a classic wave swinger ride with seats suspended from chains while Mondial’s WindSeeker features steel arms designed for higher wind conditions.

It’s even frightening in computer generated models!

• Weekends! Now that Heather is working at CPS, we have weekends off! This may not seem like a huge deal to most, but we have had the shittiest schedule for a while now. I’ve had my Monday-Friday 9-5 type schedule for a while now, but Heather had been working overnights at the child nursery she worked at. And she would work different days each week. Our sleep schedules were fucked. But now… we can get back to normal and do normal things at normal hours. Big relief. One thing this lets us do is actually start going on day trips again! Heck… I fell in love with Heather on a day trip. Many new and fantastical adventures await us.
• Memory. Mine sucks. I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before, but I have terribly bad memory. Now that I have insurance, I plan on going to some kind of doctor for this. I really don’t know if anything can be done, but it’s worth a try. I mean… I forget things within seconds. I have to write every fucking thing I want to do down on paper and even then I forget about that paper. It’s like I can’t win. It’s like I’m sabotaging myself. Hopefully I don’t have to resort to Memento style tattooing. Bah.
• Heather. Wow. What can I say? I still feel like the luckiest guy on Earth. To go from she-who-must-not-be-named to my beautiful, intelligent, child-protectin’ wife was a change for the better that is roughly equivalent to the difference between the state fair (at times fun, but mostly frightening and horrible) and Disneyland (always perfect). Night and fucking day. Jesus. So yeah… Heather is amazing. We may not be where we want to be (Arizona) in life at the moment, but we will be soon and it will be glorious… and I know we can do it. There’s never a day when I don’t feel a rush of excitement as Heather greets me after I get home from work. I feel at home with her. There’s nothing about being with her that feels unnatural or forced. I’m not very good with accurate descriptions of my feelings, but I guess you could say that being with her has made my life feel like it’s complete. Like a puzzle that finally got finished after many years. I just don’t know of anything else I really need out of life now. Sure, there are things that I want (vacations, Disneyland, toys, gadgets, gizmos, etc.), but they really don’t seem too important. When I was with… her… I was always thinking of things I could get or do that would make me happier… that would make me feel like my life was getting better or more fulfilling. I guess I thought that was okay at the time, but I was wrong. It’s kind of like I just don’t give a fuck about what the fuck I do or have as long as Heather is with me. Yep. Ha… wow. Corny as shit, huh? It’s all true though. All you need is love.
• Job. Still not diggin’ my job too much, but I’ll live. I make good money and it’s worth it to me right now. Can’t wait to move and have to find a new one, though.
• Pets. Monte sucks. I do not like owning a snake as he is boring as fuck and scares the shit out of me. Hmm… what to do? Oh… I know… RATS!!! As I’ve mentioned before… I am getting two rats: Tegan and Sara. I actually built their cage myself out of hardware cloth and linoleum. It’s amazing and beautiful and can easily be modded and added to. I still don’t have them as I’m getting them from a rat breeder and have to wait until they are 5 weeks old to get them. It’s worth the wait. They’ll be much more used to humans than Petco rats because the breeder plays with and takes great care of them.
• Team Willis. Katy just got back from France a few weeks ago and is just as awesome as ever. I’m so glad that Heather and the rest of my family get along so well. I mean… she is family now, after all. Heather motherfucking Willis. In my opinion… the BEST Willis. We’re all gonna go to Posh together in a few weeks. Fuck yeah. It’s going to be a night to rival all other nights.
• Health. I’m trying to stay focused on my weight but it’s hard. I’m not at all happy with where I am at right now. I weigh 190 at the moment. I’d like to get down to about 165. I was down at that weight when I first started dating Heather, but I got too comfortable and complacent and stopped working out. I know I can get to where I want to be, but it’s not going to be easy.
• Harry Potter. I know I’m like a hundred years late on this, but I am finally reading through all seven Harry Potter books. As of right now I am in the middle of the Half Blood Prince and loving it! Heather and I have been watching the movies as I finish the books. I will definitely be done with Deathly Hallows before the movie comes out so that should be exciting. My hair is getting pretty shaggy so maybe I’ll sharpie a scar on my forehead, buy some robes and circle glasses, and head on out to a midnight showing! Huzzah!
• Soda. I drink too much soda. Diet Mountain Dew and Coke Zero mainly. I know this is a problem, but I don’t feel like tackling it yet. I will eventually, but right now is just not the right time.
• The Netherlands. Okay. This is epic. Me and m’lady are going to The Netherlands for at least three weeks in June 2011. Yeah. I am stoked. This is our scouting trip to help us determine if we want to move there or not. I really don’t know if it’s going to entice us or not. This is very exciting as it has the potential to be a life changing event. Oh yeah… and we might (if we can come up with the money) go visit Zermatt, Switzerland!!! Why is this awesome? Oh… I don’t know… maybe because that is where the MOTHERFUCKING MATTERHORN is!
• Disneyland. Speaking of the Matterhorn… yeah… Disneyland. Not sure I’ve mentioned it before… but I’m kind of in love with the place. Just a little. That’s why it’s so sad that I haven’t been in like a million years! That’s what happens when you become responsible and try to pay off your debt while simultaneously saving up for a grand European vacation. Don’t get me wrong… I am glad we are doing these things… but I still miss the place. I feel at home in Disneyland. Oh well. I’ll go back eventually. Sometime after Holland. And hey… even if we do move to Europe I’ll still have Disneyland Paris which is, in my opinion, just as good as the original Disneyland.
• Politics. Blah. I’m a far left liberal who hates Republicans. Conservative ideals and free market stuff is fine and dandy, but Republicans are ASSHOLES. The party is full of stupid, piece of shit, mean spirited, ignorant, racist, bigoted, sexist, pathetic, worthless, assholes. Democrats are weak and not actually liberal, but they are no where near as bad as their counterparts. Anyway. Yeah. I belong in Europe. In a country where healthcare is not considered a privilege but a right and gay people can actually marry each other. American politics suck.

Well… there you go. That’s, obviously, not everything there is to know about me, but I think it’s a pretty good representation of who I am and what I am upto at the moment. Bye Bye.

Three words: Out. Of. Touch. Seriously… that’s exactly what explains the Republican party of today. It’s run by old, white men who just don’t have a clue. They are pompous, selfish, mean, and cold-hearted. And in the case of those like Glenn Beck and some of the tea party leaders… dangerous.

No… Obama is NOT intentionally trying to destroy the economy… no… Obama is not a socialist (try to call him a socialist to a real socialist and you will get laughed at quite a bit)… no… Obama was not born in Kenya… no Obama does not hate the constitution. Bah. I need to stop it with the politics. The whole thing is annoying and deeply disheartening. Democrats suck, too. There are maybe a dozen or so Dems in the senate and house that are actually competent and are actually concerned about American citizens. The rest, like all Republicans (except Ron Paul I guess), have been bought and paid for by lobbyists… and one of them used to be on Saturday Night Live for Pete’s sake!

I feel like ranting about my job situation again, but I think I’ve covered all the bases in the past. Basically… don’t like this job, but don’t know exactly what I would like. Life is definitely a journey and I am excited to see where it takes me.

Rats! I am getting my wittle baby ratties sooooo soon! The rat breeder said it should be around the 23rd. The cage is coming along nicely. I would say I’m about half way done at the moment. I’ll post pictures when it’s done. It’s awesome. It’s epic.

Okay so I’m laying in bed right now (WordPress app FTW) and just a few moments ago I heard my computer, which is upstairs, restart. I live in a haunted house. Suck it.

I’m a puppy!

Yeah… okay. One thing I want to do more with my blog is actually treat it like an actual web log. I want to post updates of boring, mundane things I have done or plan to do and things like that. Right.

So.

The rats still aren’t ready. That’s okay though as I’ve decided to build my cage from scratch. Should be a lot more fun than modifying a bookshelf. I’ll post pictures. I can’t wait to finally get little Tegan and Sara!

I’m almost done with the new theme for the blog. It’s brown. I know I know… boring, right? Nah. It’s still awesome. You’ll see.

Oh yeah! Harry Potter! I have completely the first three already! We’ve been watching the movies as I finish the books. Now Heather wants me to listen more so we can watch the movies quicker. The Goblet of Fire is freakin’ rad already. Can’t wait to watch the movie again. I’m going to be so excited for Deathly Hallows. I’m so dressing up.

Now… of course I support free speech. I strongly believe that Glenn Beck has the right to have his TV and radio show and say whatever he wants. I don’t believe, however, that if his advertisers are alerted to his antics they will want to continue supporting him. And if Glenn loses his support… he loses his show.
